Privacy Policy

Last updated 10 September 2026 · Effective 10 September 2026

The short version. We collect your email address, your Speedrun account and credit activity, and a record of which assignments you have run. We do not store the questions you run or the answers to them. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising, and we do not build profiles about you. You can delete your account and everything attached to it at any time by emailing us.

1. Who we are

Speedrun is operated by Offshore VC LLC, a South Carolina limited liability company ("Offshore", "we", "us"). This policy explains what the Speedrun browser extension and the speedrun.study website collect, why, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it.

Contact for any privacy question, data access request, or deletion request: offshore.vc@gmail.com.

Business mailing address: Offshore VC LLC, 945 Lake Murray Blvd, Ste D PMB 206, Irmo, SC 29063.

2. What we collect

CategoryWhat it isWhy we need it
Account identifier Your email address and a generated user ID. A password hash if you sign up with a password (we never see or store the password itself). To create your account, sign you in, and attach your credit balance to you.
Credit and purchase activity Your credit balance, every credit added or spent, and a record of each purchase (amount, date, and the Stripe identifiers for it). To run the paid features, keep your balance correct, and support refunds and billing questions.
Assignment activity The title of an assignment you run, when you ran it, how many questions it covered, how many were correct, and the time it took. To show you your own completion history, accuracy, and time saved, and how your performance changes over the semester. This history is tied to your account and syncs across devices, so it follows you if you sign in on another computer or reinstall.
Referral data Your referral code, and which account referred you if you used someone's link. To credit referral rewards and to prevent people farming rewards with fake accounts.
Product usage Which screens and buttons get used, as a short event name and the page path — for example that a billing screen was opened, or that an invite link was copied. On this website, a random identifier your own browser generates and stores locally, so two visits from one browser are not counted as two people, plus the short tag on a link you arrived through (such as /ig). No IP address is stored on these records. To see which parts of the product people actually use and which links bring people here, so improvements are based on measurement rather than guesswork.

What we do not collect

3. How the extension accesses pages

The extension runs only on the coursework pages it is designed to work with, as declared in its manifest. It does not read, monitor, or transmit anything from any other website you visit. It has no access to other tabs.

Nothing is collected until you sign in and start a run. Installing the extension alone does not send us any data.

4. How questions get answered

When the extension meets a question it has not seen before on this device, the question text and its on-screen answer options are sent to Anthropic's Claude API, which returns an answer. We do not keep that question or that answer. There is no copy on our servers, no log of it, and nothing tying it to your account. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, content sent to its API is not used to train its models.

Once a question has been answered, the answer is cached in your own browser's extension storage so the same question is not paid for twice. That cache lives on your computer, is never uploaded to us, and is deleted when you remove the extension or clear its data.

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of processors, each of which only receives what it needs to do its job:

ProcessorWhat it receivesPurpose
SupabaseAccount, credit and assignment dataDatabase, authentication, and server functions
AnthropicThe text of a question and its answer options, at the moment it is answered. No account identifier is sent with it.Producing the answer. Not retained by us; not used to train Anthropic's models.
StripeEmail address and purchase amountPayment processing, receipts, and subscription billing
VercelStandard web request data for speedrun.studyWebsite hosting

We may also disclose data if we are legally required to, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

6. Where data is stored, and for how long

Data is stored on servers in the United States. If you use Speedrun from outside the United States, your data is transferred there; the processors listed in section 5 each provide standard contractual clauses in their data processing terms, which is what covers that transfer. We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete your profile, credit history, assignment history and referral records.

One exception: purchase records are kept for up to seven years because tax and accounting law requires it. There is nothing else left behind — question and answer content is never stored, so a deletion has nothing to leave in place.

Product usage records (section 2) are kept for 12 months and then deleted. Deleting your account unlinks the ones made while signed in, so what remains is a bare count with no account attached. The website's anonymous records are not linked to an account in the first place, so there is nothing in them to identify or remove — clearing this site's data in your browser discards the random identifier that groups them.

7. Security

Access to your data is enforced at the database level, so one account cannot read another's. All traffic is encrypted in transit over HTTPS. Credit balances can only be changed by our server functions, never directly by a browser. Payment card data never reaches our systems.

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7a. Cookies and tracking

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics in the extension or on this website. The extension stores your signed-in session using the browser's own extension storage, which is what keeps you logged in; it is not a tracking cookie and is not readable by any website you visit. We do not track you across sites, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not respond differently to Do Not Track signals because we do not track in the first place.

We do measure our own product, first-party and without cookies: a small script we host ourselves records short event names (a page opened, a button clicked) and sends them to our own server. On this website it includes a random identifier your browser generates and keeps in its own local storage, which exists only to avoid counting one person twice; you can clear it at any time by clearing this site's data. It carries no advertising identifier, is never shared with an advertising network, and cannot follow you to any other website. We do not store an IP address on these records — one is hashed briefly to rate-limit abuse of the endpoint and then discarded — and we never record the content of your coursework this way.

Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout page, which is hosted on Stripe's domain and covered by Stripe's privacy policy.

7b. If something goes wrong

If we discover a breach affecting your personal data, we will investigate immediately, take steps to contain it, and notify affected users by email without undue delay (and in any case within 72 hours of becoming aware of it where the law requires that), along with what happened, what data was involved, and what you should do. We will notify regulators where we are obliged to.

8. Your rights

Whoever and wherever you are, you can ask us to: give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or stop processing it. Email offshore.vc@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. We will never charge you or degrade your service for exercising these rights.

If you are in the EEA or UK, our lawful bases are: performing our contract with you (running your account and purchases), our legitimate interests (preventing fraud and reward farming), and our legal obligations (keeping financial records). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority, and we would ask that you raise it with us first so we have a chance to put it right.

If you are in California, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA.

9. Children

Speedrun is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.

10. Changes

If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will tell you in the extension before it takes effect.

11. Contact
